What is a Job Shadow?
A job Shadow is a type of on-the-job experience that allows an interested student to follow and closely observe someone performing a role in a specific Career Cluster. This type of learning is used as a learning opportunity for students to gain an understanding of what is might be like in a specific career as well as insight to the day to day operations of a specific job. A job shadow is used as an opportunity for a student to gain insight without having to make a full commitment to a specific placement.
What are the expectations?
Students are expected to have excellent communication skills, demonstrate responsible behavior, be respectful and punctual in whatever shadow they secure.
Students are required to:
  • Search and identify specific job-shadow opportunities using the new CareerGPT chat bubble
    • When searching for contact information in a specific career field, make sure to ask the CareerGPT for the contact information specifically. Example: "Give me the contact information for businesses in Agriscience"
  • Contact employer with job shadow request
  • Once shadow is secure, contact your Career Specialist HERE
  • Your Career Specialist will set up date and time as well as prepare you for the day
